In the XVIII th century, casks countaining the wine of Roquemaure, and the wine of Lirac, Tavel, Chusclan and Orsan as well, were branded with the letters C.D.R. marked with red-hot iron, to guarantee the authenticity of origin Since 1947 Lirac is A.O.C ( Appellation d'Origine Controlee) and one of the thirteen vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône. |
